in the Good News of Jesus Christ. The good news is a holy and blameless God looked upon a sinful mankind with grace and mercy. He sent His perfect, sinless son, Jesus, from heaven to earth to die on the cross as a payment for our sins. We believe that God offers eternal salvation to every person through faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to be in relationship with God the Father, and He is the only way to live forever in Heaven. Southside Baptist Church began as a mission church of Edgemont Baptist Church. Southside Baptist Church was originally named Southside Baptist Chapel. The first services were held February 9, 1958, with the pastor of the mother church preaching the first Sunday of each month. The mission called their first pastor, Rev. J.O. Hogan who arrived on May 9, 1958.

In a special service on June 15, 1958, the mission church organized into the Southside Baptist Church. The property at 900 Cannon Boulevard was purchased and dedicated in October 1959. Ground-breaking for the new building was held on October 30, 1960.

The most recent addition was in 2001 with a new fellowship hall and children’s classrooms. Today there are many ideas for future expansion and growth.

Southside Baptist Church is filled with vision and hope! Southside Baptist Church has a love for the community to which it has been called to minister to as its history continues to be written.
